The Generic Man and Comme des Garçons SHIRT have once again joined forces for a collaborative endeavor that sees the two companies counterbalancing one another for a line of shoes highlighting each other’s fortes. The clean lines and primary colors of the collection take nuanced cues from modernism and the De Stijl movement’s striking graphic shapes, heightening the contrast of each model: the Chuckman, the Slip On, and the Hunting Lo, the latter two being borrowed from the Generic Surplus archives. The stark silhouettes and bold color palette make a direct nod to the sharp yet elegant tailoring of 1970s sportswear while staying true to the minimalist utilitarianism that has become Comme des Garçons SHIRT’s trademark feature.
