Ronnie Fieg is one of those lucky sneakerheads who has managed to convert his passion into a career. He started as a stockroom kid at David Z, determined to work his way into the footwear industry, and he eventually ended up as a footwear buyer. Now at only age 27, he has over 50 footwear collaborations with brands like Asics, Saucony, Adidas, Clarks, New Balance and more, some of which are sought-after collector’s items. Fieg’s latest collaboration with Converse is a premium calfskin-leather affair that has the Ronnie Fieg stamp all over it. This is what he said on his website:
“The idea was to work on a silhouette that is extremely classic but provides a twist that would sustain the brand’s iconic DNA. The Star Player 75 provides everything you would usually get with a Converse Chuck Taylor but with the added heritage of the Star Chevron logo. The leather wrapped midsole, perforated calf-skin leather lining, leather laces and tabs, embossed logos and all tonal premium leather uppers make these extremely special.”
To confirm how special, there will only be 300 pairs available in each colorway, on sale at David Z (instore and online) this Friday the 18th.
