Hype breeds hate, and after the flurry of praise which propelled Odd Future into the big time this year, now they’re subject to people tearing them down, saying they’re all hype. I admit, I’ve been susceptible to similar thoughts myself. Then you watch this video from Yours Tru.ly, which features Tyler the Creator in the most thoughtful and honest state of mind I’ve ever seen him. Maybe if people saw this side more often they’d realize Odd Future’s success is not just hype, but rooted in a prodigious talent.
