Brazilian photographer Marcelo Klein has used his photo-manipulation skills to bring a collection of old Polaroids into the present with his ‘Summer ’86’ series. The photographs, which are genuine in their all vintage subject matter and glory, have been edited to include the formerly all too ubiquitous ‘shutter shade’ made famous by rapper Kanye West. The result is a series of photo’s that are playful without skewing towards irrelevance, showcasing Klein’s skill in digital editing as well as a commentary on the nature of trends and the time periods through which they emerge; overrunning culture only to disappear into a collected past.
