Starting on Independence Day, American artist Lynette Astaire will be releasing her new historical documentary, John Monroe. As part of the Public Arts Project titled ‘American Gothic,’ the project is, as she states, “inspired by the enterprising efforts of artists within [the Great Depression] as well as the resiliency of the American spirit.†On the flip side, however, Astaire also critiques American commercialism and humourously examines the UK’s maternal role during trying times. Already given substantial buzz via UK Magazine Dazed and Confused, and limited to 99 copies, you can pre-order one right here.
