New Era presents the ‘New Era XC Design Competition’, partnering up with 90 of the most prestigious design school’s in Europe and asking their students to take a shot at designing a New Era cap for the chance to win a £10 000 to launch their career. Although the potential housed in the kit given to students – a blank cap and a series of markers – is a little underwhelming, if you look at the pictures below, the results are anything but.
The designs will be exhibited across Europe, so if you happen to be kicking around these cities, check this out!
London: 4th – 6th November (Dray Walk Gallery, Dray Walk, E1 6QL)
Berlin: 11th -13th November (CircleCulture Gallery, Gipstraße 11, 10119)
Milan: 18th – 21st November (Spazi Originale, Via Savona 55a, 20144)
Barcelona: 25th – 27th November (Angels, C. Dels Angels, 16 08001)
Paris: 2nd – 4th December (Espace Vertbois, 40 rue Etienne Marcel, 75002)

Hi. I was wondering what materials are in the box? Who makes the markers and stuff like that?
A plain white New Era 59Fifty fitted cap, and a set of about 15 paint markers. We couldn’t find brand info on the markers, but from the results the finalists produced it’s pretty clear that people tossed the markers aside and used artistic license with their materials!
There are definitely some Uni POSCA paint markers in there, as well as some Montana 94 Paint Markers, and a few Sharpies, I think…
