Yesterday night at Toronto’s Drake Hotel, Format was privileged enough to get a look at what iconic brand Converse has in store for Spring/Summer 2013. Over beers and homemade corn dogs, the Converse team walked us through some of the brands most exciting offerings, hitting stores early next year. John Varvatos continues his prolific collaboration with the label, injecting his signature rock style into classic silhouettes: most notably are the studded leather All-Star’s pictured above, which feature a zippered hi-top that can be removed to reveal on OX silhouette. Comic-adorned collaborations with DC Comics continue, as well as three special-edition shoes made with Green Day to commemorate the release of Dookie, Kerplunk and American Idiot. First String editions of their shoes will also continue to come to market, but Converse reps were pretty hush-hush about what was coming down the pipeline in 2013. Overall it was a strong showing from a brand that’s become a serious footwear icon over their storied 104-year history.
