Nike Basketball is getting a tad nostalgic with the upcoming 50th anniversary of their foray into the basketball footwear scene. Starting with the Blazer in 1972, Nike‘s designers and engineers have gradually pushed the envelope when it comes to innovating with materials and design to create the most stylish and functional pieces on the court. Most notable in the above image is the movement toward stabilizing the ankle for a sport where lateral movement puts strain on delicate joints. The Air Force 1, the Air Foamposite 1 and the latest Kobe 8 System are all particularly iconic pieces in the series.
