Italian designer Alessia Massimi has created the intriguing multifunctional ‘Trinclinium’ chair by repurposing a non-traditional material; the headrests from a Citroen C2 car. The chair, if it can indeed be simplified as one, features a series of units connected by flexible joints, making the structure highly customizable to a user’s preference; the result is more of a dynamic surface than a specific-use piece of furniture. Ultimately, Massimi’s’Triclinium’ is a design that inspires an individual to customize their own comfort.

This project was designed for the Citroen C-Design Contest in collaboration with Paola Schiattarella and Serena la Daga, with the advice of Paolo D’Arrigo.
