For the most recent Japanese issue of POP, a cross-disciplinary design magazine, Takashi Murakami worked with Britney Spears. The highly stylized, highly processed result is Murakami’s take on Japanese pop culture and aesthetic sensibilities, crossed with one of pop music’s biggest icons. What do you think of Murakami’s efforts? Sincere imitation of Japan’s aesthetic sensibilities, or is it a subtle satire?
