Sam Flores presents Ego, Addiction, & Other Bedtime Stories at the Subliminal Projects Gallery in Los Angeles this month. The collection of large paintings, digital prints, and sketches presents Flores’ dark take on a number of fables and fairytales. “The whole idea is balance, and maintaining a balance of light and dark,” says Flores. A recurring element in his pieces is the use of a female as the embodiment of a thought, idea, or emotion. Flores also enjoys painting characters who display their emotions through body position rather than facial expression.
