Chinese artist Zheng Hong Xiang has created these works of art reflecting on life in modern China. Their tone and subject matter are reminiscent of surrealist paintings and the deep red hues and dramatic shadows create an ominous atmosphere with a feeling of impending danger. In the paintings faceless figures grapple with the forces of destruction and ideology while fighting amongst themselves. These are dark images, full of weight and foreboding. But more than that they are beautiful. Elegantly composed and expertly painted. Zheng Hong Xiang is certainly one to watch in the future.
